Pack an extra bag containing just the essentials.

For example, essentials could include a change of clothes, your laptop, toothbrushes, medications, important documents, baby necessities, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning spray, trash bags, a tool kit, pet food, bottled water, wallets and extras shoes. By this way, you won’t be forced to unpack your boxes in a hurry and loose the control of where each item is.
Create a master moving to-do list
When you move homes, you inevitably end up having plenty of different things to do and to remember. So if you don’t want to forget anything, write them down somewhere. Nothing is too insignificant. Write down every little detail, in order to track everything. This will make your life and moving easier!
Label what’s in your boxes, add what room they’ll be going into, as well.
When you arrive at your new home, unpack each box by room because, so the process of unpacking will seem to be more easy and fast for you. In addition, the unpacking process will feel more manageable. Therefore, don’t forget to label the sides of the boxes, not the tops. This way, you’ll be able to identify them even if they’re stacked in a corner of your new home.
Cover the openings of your toiletries with saran wrap, then put the tops back on.
To prevent potential leaking and spilling during the move, take some extra time to secure your toiletry bottles. For example, unscrew the cap of your shampoo bottle, wrap a piece of Saran Wrap over the top, and screw the cap back on. Simple and surprisingly effective.
Place heavy items in small boxes

Arrive to your new home before the move and pre-clean the bathroom and kitchen. If you want to gain some time in the process of moving, try to get to your new home before the move company.
